Citrine in its natural form is very rare. Most of the Citrine available today is a result of treating Amethyst and Smoky Quartz.

The colour variations of the gemstone depend upon the heating. It takes a light golden yellow colour if treated at a low temperature. Conversely, an intense yellow to brownish colour is obtained by heating at higher temperatures.

The intense coloured stones often called “Lemon Quartz” are highly valued in the gems and jewelry market.
